I could be considered to be ahead of the curve - in the sense that the curve is rolling over me and crushing me, and some part of me is sticking out of the front.
Does it have to be a curve? Let's think of it dimensionally. Let's call it an arc. That way, all we have to do is scratch our way to the middle, and we can blindly roll down the other side.
