That is too funny. This is what we call my grandparents house. I took a photo of this 3 years ago, framed it and gave it to them, they laughed. Glad that others see the irony.
I don't think there's any irony; it's a common name for such places. I remember there was a reference to a "Dew Drop Inn" in the TV show "The Waltons." Even if it wasn't a real place, the time period of the show was the 1930's & 1940's, and I'm sure the writers were not just trying to make a bad pun.
